Apple is literally leaving no stones unturned when it comes to the Apple Watch. Roping in senior executives from the luxury brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry and the works, to giving customers a choice from 34 variants, Apple is out guns blaring kick starting the fashion smartwatch trend. Now, 9toMac’s Mark Gurman has scooped exactly how Apple plans to serve its most high-end customers.
The gold plated Apple Watch Edition buyers are in for a slew of perks over other Apple Watch buyers. They evade the line, get a personal expert to guide them through the features and usefulness of the embedded tech inside the watch, and of course help them personalize their smartwatch design however they want to.
To give you an exact sense of what happens when a person shows interest in the Apple Watch Edition, Gurman reports that buyers will not have to wait in line, and will be immediately welcomed by a dedicated expert who will take them to a special section where the gold-plated smartwaches are kept. They will then be given a detailed journey of the features of the smartwatch and everything that Apple offers. They will then be given 30 minutes to simply try the Apple Watch Edition smartwatch in a separate try-on section. They will be allowed only two watches to try, and can even compare the gold plated version with the steel and other variants.
Experts have been trained specifically for taking care of Apple Watch Edition ‘high-end’ customers. If the customer is unable to visit a physical store, Apple has also organized a dedicated online service where a video call appointment can be done for the purpose. Terming it as the ‘Virtual Personal Setup’, the Apple Watch Edition buyers get the perk of a dedicated phone line for two years of 24/7 technical support (in English), and AppleCare+ for three years.
Apple has designed the Apple Watch Edition try-on area just like a jewellery store, with mats, Edition demo kits and special stools for customers. All those Edition buyers, who do not have a store nearby selling the smartwatch, can make an online request to Apple and the company will courier it to the most nearby Apple Store to the customer for him to try it on, as part of its Edition ‘Courier-to-Store’ program.
Apple is rolling out the Edition only to its largest markets, but will gradually roll it out globally. As mentioned earlier, Edition buyers will get priority access, means no waiting in line like the Apple Watch or Apple Watch sport buyers.
For all those who were expecting some offers, bulk discounts or trade-ins like Apple normally does for all of its products, there is some disappointing news. The publication is reporting that there won’t be any iPhone trade-ins or any perks on this front. Users will not be able to trade-in their older iPhone for a gift card to be used toward the purchase of an Apple Watch. However, if a gift card has remaining value after a new iPhone is purchased, that amount can be used towards a Watch.
